"Deadly Golf Cart"

Calvin takes his first shot this Sunday morning at a golf course in Fort Myers, FL. He and his wife of 35 years own a condominium on the course. Tammy Lynn, Calvin’s wife, likes to ride along with her husband, always enjoying the Florida sunshine. It’s February, and Fort Myers is enjoying temperatures in the sixties.

Calvin tees off at the seventh. He is delighted when his second shot clears the water hazard. Calvin drives the electric cart down to a path along the edge of the water hazard.

He steps out of the golf cart, walks along the steep, narrow path around the pond, and takes his second shot. As he walks toward the green, Calvin waves for his wife to come on with the cart. He doesn’t look back.

Seated on the passenger side, Tammy Lynn isn’t sure about the controls. She seldom pays attention when her husband drives anything.

She reaches over with her foot and gets the cart moving. The path beside the pond is steep and narrow. She over-steers the three-wheeled vehicle as it rides dangerously close to the embankment.

Suddenly the cart begins sliding and rides down the slick embankment. In a panic, Tammy Lynn hits what she believes is the brake pedal. It’s the accelerator! The cart plunges into the pond with Tammy Lynn still on board.

At least one golfer sees Tammy Lynn and the cart crash into the water hazard. He yells to alert the others and all begin running toward the pond. One man calls 911 on his cell phone.

Four golfers dive into the 30 foot deep water hazard in an attempt to save Tammy Lynn, but it takes a full 20 minutes before they manage to bring her back to dry land. First the golfers, later paramedics, try to revive the woman, but it’s no use.
