"Playing in Cole Slaw"
We laugh at highway signs that say: "Bridge freezes before highway." Does that include summer?
But to a 48-year-old woman up in Greenburg, PA, there’s nothing funny about those highway signs. She’s claiming permanent injury to her spine after her car skidded out of control on a slick spot on the highway over a bridge. The accident happened during the winter months, according to the civil lawsuit.
By the fourth day of the trial the jury seems to believe Mrs. Gibson’s case has some merit. It’s plain to see she’s having great difficulty getting into and out of the witness box.
But on day four of the trial, Mrs. Gibson’s former husband shows up in court. When an "ex" appears in court it’s never a good sign. The mere sight of an "ex" during a big bucks trial sends chills up the spine of a lawyer trying to make a case for a long suffering plaintiff. "What’s this guy doing here? What’s he got?" the lawyer must be wondering.
What the husband’s got is a home video of his so-called seriously handicapped ex-wife vacationing at Daytona Beach during "Biker Week."
This event, always the first week in February, is the premier rowdy attraction that kicks off the tourist season at "The World’s Most Famous Beach."
But what utterly destroys Mrs. Gibson’s case is not her visit to Daytona Beach—rather, it’s the event she’s involved in that gets her lawsuit thrown right out of court.
The video clearly shows the lady with the permanently damaged spine. Clad only in a thong bathing suit the video shows Mrs. Gibson wallowing inside a huge wooden vat half-filled with cole slaw. What’s she doing in this giant goopy salad? Why, she’s wrestling with another lady biker, of course.
